WARNING FOR COVER SPOILERS AND VIOLENCE

Flashpoint #2 Variant//Flashpoint: Emperor Aquaman #2

[image description: Two covers have placed next to each other. The one on the left is the variant cover for the second issue of Flashpoint. It features a stern-looking dark-haired woman in armor that was clearly inspired by medieval European armor. She is supposed to be the Flashpoint-world version of Wonder Woman, but as anyone who has ever read a single fucking Wonder Woman comic in their life could tell you, she is most certainly not. Diana of Themyscira stands for peace and love. She fights because it is necessary, not because she seeks revenge or enjoys hurting people. FUCKING DC. The Wonder Woman imposter has her arm stretched out to the side and is presenting the decapitated head of Mera to the viewer. Mera resembles her normal self except for her greyed-out eyes and more makeup than you would usually expect someone who lives under the sea to be wearing. Oh, and she’s missing the rest of her fucking body

The cover to the right is the cover for Flashpoint: Emperor Aquaman #2. It features an angry looking Aquaman with a buzz-cut and an orange and black outfit. In his arms, he is holding Mera’s body, with her neck conveniently off of the page. Her breasts and butt, however, are displayed prominently. Both Mera’s body and Aquaman are flecked with blood, presumably hers.]

Putting these two images together gives us Mera’s entire body. It also reminds me that even though DC does put out good comics, those good comics are far outweighed by the violent, sexist, misogynist, homophobic, ableist shit that they seem to delight in throwing at their audience. I’m not even mad anymore, I’m just disappointed.

Also? Nice work, DC. This is the most blatant fridging I’ve seen in a while. I’d hate to think you were losing your touch at violently dismembering female characters for no fucking good reason.
